Our Storyby Gary SimpsonThe Santa Barbara Home Improvement Center was founded in 1967 by my Father, Kenneth Simpson Jr., who worked very hard at growing and perfecting the business before I took over operations in 1983. Our business philosophy for the last 44 years has always been to provide as much personalized customer service as possible and to retain that small home town feeling. Over the years we have grown and changed with the times to meet our customer's needs, but to this day we still maintain that high level of customer service our customers have come to expect from us. In today's electronic age, we still answer the phone with a person when you call and have ample staff on the sales floor so that you won't have to spend the first part of your visit to our store on an expedition to find some help. As your local Ace Hardware Store, we are part of the largest retailer owned co-operative in the world, and independently owned which allows us to provide the kind of customer service that most chain stores simply cannot. The co-operative also provides us with the buying power and product selection of a much larger organization, so that we can offer our customers a great selection of products at very competitive pricing.
