The Home Improvement Center has always provided outstanding wages and benefits for the retail industry.  We genuinely care about our staff and do our best to provide a full package of benefits.  Our salary for F/T retail Sales Associate positions is $15 depending on experience and for P/T positions it is $14 depending on experience.  Merchandise Stockers start at $11 an hour.  F/T employees are eligible for HMO Health Care Coverage (we pay 75% of the premium), $1320 in yearly Dental Coverage at 100%, Section 125 deductions for uncovered medical and child care expenses, employer sponsored life insurance, a 401k plan with employer match (up to $3,000 yearly), an employee discount amounting to cost-plus only 10%, and paid vacation, holiday & sick time.  P/T employees are eligible for the employee discount and paid vacation, holiday & sick time, as well as, the 401k plan if they work at least 20 hours weekly.

In order to maintain a safe and drug free work environment, all newly hired employees are required to take and pass a drug and alcohol test.

Most starting positions require working both Saturdays and Sundays with two contiguous days off during the week.  Newly hired employees may also expect to receive several closing shifts.  Store Hours are: 7:45-7:00 M-F, 8:00-6:00 Sat., & 8:30-5:30 Sun.

Garden Sales Associate

Do you have a green thumb? If you love plants and working outdoors then you just might be the perfect fit to work in our Garden Department. Learn how to care for and grow plants or better yet, share your existing knowledge and love of plants with our many nursery customers. Job responsibilities include: assisting customers, stocking merchandise, Department maintenance, and other miscellaneous tasks assigned to you by your Department Manager.

Cashier

Cashiering is the busiest position in the store. A constant stream of customers makes the day whiz on by. Accuracy, efficiency, and friendliness are the hallmarks of a good cashier, so if you like a fast paced position with lots of customer interaction this is definitely the position for you. Job responsibilities include: assisting customers, accurately completing sales transactions, Department maintenance, and other miscellaneous tasks assigned to you by your Department Manager.

Hardware Sales Associate

Enjoy a challenging and fast paced position helping customers with their repair, maintenance and hardware needs. There’s never a dull moment with a high volume of customers coming and going all of the time. Job responsibilities include: assisting customers, stocking merchandise, Department maintenance, and other miscellaneous tasks assigned to you by your Department Manager.

Lumber Sales Associate

Assist our many do-it-yourselfers and commercial customers with building products and advice. This rugged position is outdoors in the sun and the occasional rain and involves a fair amount of heavy lifting. If you like a more physical position, you’ll feel right at home in our Lumber Yard. Job responsibilities include: assisting customers, cutting lumber, stocking merchandise, Department maintenance, and other miscellaneous tasks assigned to you by your Department Manager.

Casual Living Sales Associate

In this fun Department you’ll work with Gift items, Kitchen Supplies, Bath Items, and Patio & BBQ supplies. Lots of variety will keep you learning all of the time. Job responsibilities include: assisting customers, assembling barbeques & patio furniture, stocking merchandise, Department maintenance, and other miscellaneous tasks assigned to you by your Department Manager.

Paint Sales Associate

Painting may not be everyone’s favorite job, but once you have the basics down it’s really easier than you think. Help our customers beautify their homes and businesses with a fresh coat of paint. You’ll learn everything from how to patch a hole in the wall, to proper surface preparation, and of ‘course which paints to use and how to apply them. Job responsibilities include: assisting customers, stocking merchandise, mixing & matching paints, Department maintenance, and other miscellaneous tasks assigned to you by your Department Manager.

Plumbing/Electrical Sales Associate

This more technical position involves assisting customers’ needs where some background knowledge in Plumbing, Electrical or both can really come in handy. Help customers stop a leaky faucet or explain how to wire a lamp; it’s all in a day’s work. Job responsibilities include: assisting customers, stocking merchandise, Department maintenance, and other miscellaneous tasks assigned to you by your Department Manager.
